Children and Families Pastor (Part-Time)

The Diocese of Southwark London, England, United Kingdom
Description of Job

Introduction

This is an exciting opportunity to join the team pioneering a new church congregation, Well City Church in Stockwell, planting out of King's Cross Church (KXC), helping a new church congregation to grow and thrive.

We are seeking a part time Children and Families Pastor to bring vision, energy and creativity to this area of the church. This role would be ideal for someone who is energised by the prospect of a role which engages with the blank canvas of a church plant and who senses the call of God to be drawn into this unfolding story, and placing children and families at the heart of the church.

As a result of a successful bid by the Diocese of Southwark, funding to resource a new church plant has been obtained. In September 2024, KXC launched a new church plant, Well City Church, meeting at St Michael’s Church Stockwell. This is a truly exciting opportunity to join the leadership team and members of KXC who form the initial congregation, at the start of a new season in the life of God’s mission to Stockwell, bringing vision and oversight to all the children and youth work, both on Sundays and during the week.

You will be someone who is committed to discipleship to Jesus and want to share your faith to enable children, young people and families to have deep rooted faith in Jesus. You will have a passion for Jesus that motivates your attitude towards your work. Our hope is that you pursue spiritual and emotional growth, in the power of the Holy Spirit in your life and also have a desire to see that same growth and transformation in the Church. Finally, you will be a team player who makes room for the gifts and talents of others but who is also confident in bringing their God-given contributions to the life of the new worshipping community and the building of God's Kingdom.

If this is an opportunity that excites you, we would love to hear from you.

London, England, United Kingdom

The Diocese of Southwark, founded in 1905, forms part of the Province of Canterbury in England and is part of the wider Church of England, in turn part of the worldwide Anglican Communion. The Diocese covers primarily the area of Greater London, which is south of the Thames, together with the eastern part of the county of Surrey. It is one of the largest dioceses in terms of population and parishes as well as one of the most diverse.

We share a vision for the future in which we will see:

growing churches, new worshipping communities and new Christians

deepening discipleship: engaged, prayerful and informed Christians

growth in vocations to existing and new ministries

generous giving and prayer supporting all we do

justice and peace built up, and violence challenged, in our local and global community

a shared commitment to the integrity of Creation

a Church for all which reflects our diverse community in membership and leadership, including growth in United Kingdom minority ethnic (UKME) vocations and appointments.

Our Vision is founded on mutual commitment from all who make up the Diocesan family to walk together in the pilgrimage of faith, supporting, encouraging and resourcing each other in our common task.
