Description of Job

We are privileged to have weekly contact with around 200 under 18s and opportunities to partner with 600+ children at our local Church school. We long for children to know how much they are loved by God, to discover their identity in Christ, and grow as disciples of Jesus. This is an exciting time to envision and grow our Children’s Ministry at SML.

As a valuable part of our staff team and Church membership you will bring energy and enthusiasm in leading, managing and developing our children’s ministry by discipling and caring for all children aged 0-11, and partnering with parents/carers as they nurture their children’s faith.

As a Bible-based and Spirit-filled Christian you will be fully supported in:

  • Developing and delivering the Vision for our Children’s Ministry over the next 5+years to engage inspire and disciple our Children to worship, pray and grow in the love of Jesus.
  • Facilitating all our Sunday & Midweek Children’s groups which creatively engages Children attending SML and reflects a passion to see the Holy Spirit at work in and through every child.
  • Growing and nurturing the Children’s Ministry Volunteer Team so they are confident, enthusiastic, well supported and reflect our vision and values
  • Building relationships with Parents & Carers of Children both attending SML and in the wider community
  • Working in partnership with Longfleet Primary School to regularly and creatively engage with their 600+ children attending the school

Skills and Experience

  • An experienced Children’s Pastor/Worker with at least 3 years of experience of leading a Children’s Ministry and confident at leading from the front at all-age services.
  • An understanding of how a large church operates and to be confident leading our Children’s Ministry in that setting.
  • An inspiring, creative teacher and written communicator who engages confidently and effectively with Children and their families.
  • Passionate about helping all children grow in their love and understanding of the Bible, and to experience the ministry of the Holy Spirit
  • A team player who has strong interpersonal skill and enjoys building and nurturing volunteer teams, equipping them to serve effectively in our Children’s Ministry.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills. Creatively minded and competent digital and office software skills including to prepare engaging publicity for our Children’s activities
