PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

This Associate Minister role is a vital new post, created in response to the exciting opportunities presented by our thriving and expanding church. This role will enhance the leadership capability and capacity within the existing Senior Leadership Team. Working closely with the Rector, the Associate Minister will enjoy turning vision into reality through the oversight of a number of core ministries and new strategic initiatives. This is an exciting role with the potential to make a significant kingdom impact in our strategic context at a key time. It also offers a unique development opportunity for an ordained member of the clergy, allowing the successful candidate to work alongside and learn from experienced leaders while having the space and support to innovate across various areas.

We are seeing people come to faith in Jesus on a weekly basis, and we are pioneering new ways of discipling people to make a difference in every area of their lives. As a city-centre church with a congregation of 1600+, we have hundreds of volunteer leaders and teams across our ministries, leading Aldates Groups, Alpha, student ministry, Aldates Kids and Youth. We have four services every Sunday, one of which is broadcast live. Our staff team consists of 35+ Ministry and Operations leaders. In addition, the School of Ministry recruits 10-15 students annually who work alongside ministry leaders. 

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITES

  • Serve as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, collaborating closely with the Rector in the ongoing leadership of the church.
  • Develop and implement the church’s vision on behalf of the Rector.
  • Sunday services and mid-week events: leading change, overseeing teams, and nurturing volunteer leaders.
  • Lead key projects from inception to completion.
  • Act as the primary bridge between the pastoral and operational aspects of the ministries.
  • Recruit, train, and empower volunteers to serve across the entire church.
  • Coordinate and oversee key events such as Easter and Christmas.
  • Engage in ministerial opportunities as an Associate Minister within the church.

PERSON DESCRIPTION

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • A proven track-record of delivering projects to completion in a church
  • Experience of line management, gathering teams and equipping them to perform effectively
  • Experience of working in a busy, multi-faceted organisation
  • Experience of delivering change in a church or secular context
  • Experience of leading groups, events or meetings in a church context

 SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • A pro-active, confident, completer-finisher able to manage teams of staff and volunteers
  • An excellent communicator at all levels bringing clarity in verbal and written material
  • An ability to multi-task across a range of ministries
  • A gifted pastor with strong interpersonal skills, able to gather people into community
  • A confident leader, comfortable in leading large meetings and small groups in a church context
  • Strong planning, organisational and administrative skills
