Job Title: Head of Youth Ministry 

Location: Surrey Heath, based in Camberley

Employment Type: Permanent full time (37.5 hours per week)

Salary: £26,000-£29,000 (based on qualifications and experience)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Head of Youth Ministry to engage with and support young people in both school, church and community settings. This role involves planning and leading faith-based activities, building relationships with young people and youth workers, and leading the Camberley Youth for Christ team. The ideal candidate will have a heart for youth ministry, excellent communication skills, and a strong Christian faith.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Co-ordinate and run missional youth activities across four secondary schools in Surrey Heath, including Christian Unions, Alpha courses and after school clubs.
  • Build on existing relationships with local schools, supporting RS teachers and occasionally leading assemblies.
  • Plan and organise one off events such as prayer spaces, mission weeks and weekend residential trips.
  • Support and encourage links between local church youth workers to share ideas, resources and training.
  • Plan and lead a termly worship event, gathering young people from across Surrey Heath.
  • Advise, train, and support churches that do not have a youth worker to engage with youth and start new ministries.
  • Work with local church leaders to integrate young people from schools and the community into the life of a church, and support them in providing discipleship opportunities.
  • Communicate and engage with young people through social media platforms to foster connection and outreach. 
  • Manage staff and oversee budgeting for youth ministry initiatives.
  • Recruit, train, and manage volunteers to assist with youth activities in schools and churches.  
  • Work with the Trustees to set the future vision for the charity, ensuring its mission and values are upheld and effectively implemented.

 Key Requirements:

  • A strong personal faith in Jesus Christ and the ability to effectively communicate the gospel to young people.
  • Experience working with young people in a school, church or community setting.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with schools, churches, and community organisations.
  • A relevant qualification in youth work, theology, or a related field.
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging faith-based activities.
  • Ability to confidently use a variety of IT programmes for office administration tasks and social media.
  • A willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
  • A clear DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service)
  • There is an Occupational Requirement that the role holder is a Christian in accordance with the Employment Equality (Religion and Belief) Regulations 2010.

Flexibility

For the right candidate we are willing to be flexible with the hours and scope of this role. We would consider a term time only role, part time hours or a job share.
