St Columba's Project Manager

St John's Great Horton and St Wilfrid's Lidget Green Bradford, England, United Kingdom
Salary
25,000
Max Salary
30,000
Description of Job

The PCC of the parish of Great Horton and Lidget Green in Inner Bradford are seeking a PROJECT MANAGER to help us rescue a wonderful old church building and restore it to its primary purpose: Christian worship and service to the community.

St Columba’s is a large one hundred year old church building. It closed for worship in 2002. It stands on the edge of a busy road surrounded by dense housing. The area is varied in cultures and ethnicities, although predominantly Muslim, of Pakistani Kashmiri background. Bradford has one of the youngest populations in the UK, and the local population includes many families with young children. There is very little provision in the area for young families. We hope to establish a project which will meet this need, serving students as well as young families. St Columba’s is in easy walking distance of the university and several schools.

The successful applicant will be highly motivated and hard-working. Able to lead a team of paid and volunteer staff, but also able to work alone. The project consists of an establishment phase, gradually moving to an operational phase. You will need to be able to manage tight budgets and work with a variety of professionals to bring the different aspects of the project into existence and to run them successfully.

The vision is for a community hub with soft play and a café at the heart of it (think Wacky Warehouse). There is a chapel for worship and space to let to other groups or use for a variety of activities. There is currently a successful Sushi Takeaway run by church members in the building. It may be necessary to create parking on site, as access by car is difficult, though the area is well served by buses.

This is a full-time role for a committed Christian. The salary will be between £25,000 and £30,000 depending on experience. We welcome applications from less experienced leaders and can provide training and mentoring in the role.

For an application form or further information, please contact Jan Nicholson by email: office@stjohnsgreathorton.org.uk

Closing Date for Applications: Monday 3rd July 2023.

St John's Great Horton and St Wilfrid's Lidget Green

Bradford, England, United Kingdom

St John’s Great Horton is very informal and friendly church. We meet God together and we have fun together as well as being serious. We believe the Bible is God’s Word to bring us life, and we are open to the Holy Spirit’s power to help us live the life.

Church does not just take place on a Sunday. Church should be connected to the past, but relevant to the way we live our lives today. The Bible says that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow” and so we long for all people to know the blessing of following Jesus each and every day.
